Microwave Kilns

Pearl's Creations brings you a choice of Microwave Kilns in 3 sizes.

What are Microwave Kilns?
Microwave Kilns are ceramic based and made from refractory board,
which is the same material used to line the proper Kilns.
This material makes It an insulating unit, protecting the microwave oven from the high temperatures raised within it's chamber for glass (melting) fusing.

The Advantages?
~ approximately 10 times cheaper than a proper kiln
~ achieves fusing results in under 15 minutes
~ 20,000 times cheaper in energy cost to run
~ ability to control extent of fusing for each individual piece

The Disadvantages?
~ each glass piece has to cool to room temperature before the Microwave Kiln unit can be used again
~ glass pieces after fusing takes 30 minutes - 1hour to cool
~ ability to make a few pieces at a time only (depending on size of Microwave Kiln)
~ cannot be used to / will not anneal glass pieces
